Pear and Kiwi Juice - Great for After Meals
What you will need:
2 pears
2 kiwis
10ml lemon juice
Method
1. Rinse the pear, peel the skin off. Remove seeds and cut into pieces
2. Rinse and peel kiwi fruits and cut into pieces.
3. Put kiwi and pear pieces into juicer together with the lemon juice
4. Pour mixture in glass and serve.
Benefits:
Kiwi fruit is very rich in vitamin C that helps fight illnesses. It also rejuvenates skin and improves complexion. The component pectin, which is found in the fruit also moisturizes our skin and makes our skin look healthier.
Furthermore, the fibre content in kiwi helps alleviate constipation problems and improves one's digestion
Pears are known to relieve cough, dissolve phlegm and help heal those suffering from sore throats.
High amounts of fibre and potassium in pears help improve digestion and balance the amount of sodium in out bodies as well
Tips:
Choose kiwis that are heavy, firm and have a very furry feel to it. This highers your chances of picking a fresher and jucier kiwi fruit.
Choose pears that are smooth and firm. Avoid pears that have different patches of colours as fresh pears should have a constant colour tone around it.
Stewing pears with rock sugar is another method to cure sore throats and dispel body heatiness.
Take note:
Preparing this juice after dinner would certainly help in digestion, especially after a heavy meal with lots of meat as kiwi fruits are rich in enzymes that can easily break down proteins. This helps improve digestion as our stomachs would not have to work so hard to digest the meat.
Enjoy!

Honeydew Yoghurt Juice Drink
Honeydew Yoghurt Juice Drink
What you will need:
Half a honeydew
1 cup plain yoghurt
3/4 cup of fresh milk
1 cup of crushed ice
Method1. Cut the honeydew in half and remove the skin.
2. Remove the seeds and cut the flesh into pieces
3. Pour all ingredients into juicer together with yoghurt and milk and blend
4. Pour mixture in glass and serve with crushed ice
Benefits:
Honeydew is rich in Vitamin C and potassium. Vitamin C helps strengthen our immune system, while potassium is necessary for good nerve and muscle function. The high water content in honeydew also helps balance sodium content in our body by rehydrating us and promoting diuresis.
As for yoghurt, it is a good source of calcium and vitamin D, which are both necessary for maintaining healthy bones. Protein found in yoghurt is also good for muscle repair and growth. Most importantly, yogurt contains beneficial bacteria called probiotics that can help with our digestion!
Milk is also a good source of calcium that gives us strong bones and teeth.
Thus the combination of these two elements not only taste great together, but is also extremely healthy to consume due to the benefits of yoghurt and honeydew combined.
Tips:
Choose honeydews that have a strong fruity fragrance as an indication of ripe flesh.
As honeydew flesh is soft and can be easily bruised, a good way to cut the fruit would be to cut it gently with a knife diagonally from top to bottom.
As the mixture can be rather thick due to the yoghurt, it will taste better with more ice added to the mixture.
Enjoy!

2 Apples
450g Carrots

3. Pour all ingredients into juicer and make sure its thoroughly mixed.
4. Add lemon juice and stir.

Benefits:
Apples are rich in nutrients such as carbohydrates, malic acid and fibre. They help beautify complexion, lowering one's cholesterol and reduce high blood pressure.
The high amount of beta carotene found in carrots is known to prevent cancer. Also, as beta carotene gets converted to vitamin A in the body, it helps to improve eyesight and reduce hair loss.
The combination of those two fruits mixed as juice serves as a great thirst quencher as well.
Tips:
Remember to blend and serve quickly as once the apples are cut, the apple pieces will start to oxidize and may spoil the taste of the juice if left by itself for a longer period
When choosing carrots, choose thick carrots with a smooth bright orange surface. Avoid those with dark patches or cracks. Avoid carrots that appear to be worm eaten too.
For apples, choose those with a bright red colour and a glossy feel. The feeling of the apple should be smooth as well.

Before Making your Delicious Juice
*Before you begin
One must have the knowledge that fruits and vegetable juices are consumed in raw form. Therefore all fruits and vegetables must be thoroughly washed and cleaned before being placed in the blender.
I suggest fruits and vegetables meant for juicing to be first soaked in salt water to remove any chemical residues coming from pesticides. After that, rinse the vegetables under running water for about 2-4 minutes or scrub them clean in warm water to ensure they are safe for consumption.
Lastly, when making juices, avoid having too much or too many varieties of fruits and vegetables in a single day as this may force our body to secrete complex gastric juices that may lead to indigestion instead.
The combinations of fruits and vegetables for you too blend is entirely up to you to decide, or you can use the ideas in the following recipes that i shall post later on. So unless there is any food item you should avoid, you can mix any combinations of fruits to your liking. However try not to over indulge in juices that are too sweet or too sour! :)
Why are Fruits and Vegetables Good for Health?
Fruits and vegetables have high mineral and vitamin content.
A lack of certain vitamins can lead to fatigue, poor complexion and poor eyesight. In some cases of severe deficiency, it can lead to serious illness. There are many vitamins in fruits and vegetables, one of them which includes Vitamin C. Vitamin C is found in many citrus fruits such as oranges, kiwis and lemons. This vitamin is noted for its ability to prevent cancer and common illnesses such as influenza. The great Vitamin C also help to speed the healing of open wounds and plays a primary role in the formation of collagen, which is important for the growth and repair of body tissue cells, gums, blood vessels, bones and teeth.
A lack of the vitamin may lead to symptoms such as soft & bleeding gums, slow-healing wounds and a poor immune system. Therefore it is very important that we consume fruits and vegetables daily in juice form or by itself so as to prevent such symptoms.
If you all are wondering what other types of minerals and vitamins that are found in other fruits including their benefits, fret not, for I will give much greater details on the nutritional values and benefits of the different juice recipes in upcoming posts so you learn not only making your own fruit juice but also the benefits you receive from drinking that particular juice. Stay tuned
Sugar
Fruits contain different types of sugar such as fructose and glucose. These sugars provide us physical strength where our body breaks down these sugars so that energy can be released. This is important if we have an active lifestyle as fruits are not only a good and cheap source of energy but are also natural, which means what we drink or eat is pure, without any preservatives.
Fibre
Fruits and vegetables that contain high fibre content will promote movement of bowels and aid digestion. This is an important component is one suffers from indigestion frequently.
Fibre also helps control fat absorption in our body, which helps in obesity control and people suffering from heart diseases.
Organic Acids
Organic acids are what gives fruits its sour taste. Such acids include lactic acid, citric acid and tartaric acid. These acids are found in fruits such as oranges, apples and plums and they help stimulate our appetite, aid in digestion and increase our metabolism.
Till then.
